In our clinic, we use laser dentistry to increase the quality of care we can offer our patients. We are passionate about oral health and identifying ways to improve our patients’ experience.
Realizing that many adults suffer from dental anxiety, we are replacing traditional dental equipment with lasers.
How will lasers improve your experience?
The main reason why people are afraid to go to the dentist is the noise, heat, vibration and odor from the dental drill. As effective as the dental drill is, we know it has created generations of anxious patients. If you are in this group, you do not need to be afraid of the dentist’s chair anymore.
We frequently use laser treatment methods because they are quiet and eliminate the heat and vibration you may have felt in the past.
How lasers are improving dentistry
The laser energy is so fine that it allows us to target very specific and small areas without irritating the surrounding gum tissue. This is especially helpful when treating a condition such as gum disease. When plaque and tartar are trapped under the gums, the gums can become inflamed and swollen. Typically, the best way to remove it is to use metal dental instruments to break up and scrape away the tartar.
While necessary, this can certainly be inconvenient. Laser dentistry has revolutionized how we complete this procedure. We can use the laser to break up tartar and plaque without the need to stick anything under your gums. We ensure that there is very little irritation during or after the procedure while still reaping the benefits of a deep clean.
Laser dentistry also works to treat hard tissue. For example, we can use lasers to treat tooth decay without causing you discomfort. This is an advanced method compared to using a dental drill because we can only target the decayed part of the tooth and when using a laser there is no vibration and pressure felt with traditional dental instruments.
If we need to complete more invasive procedures, such as placing dental implants or removing a tooth, we can use lasers to stop the bleeding. In fact, lasers can stimulate the healing process so that your gum tissue is less swollen or irritated. By using dental lasers throughout the procedure, you will need less gauze after completion and you will feel much better overall.
