Full or partial removable dentures require a lot of maintenance. You have to take good care of them to keep your smile clean and spotless.<\/p>\n

Clean Your Dentures Regularly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prostheses hold food and other particles. Then, bad bacteria grow from the particles that stick to them. Unfortunately, this bacteria leads to gum disease and other serious health problems. Clean daily to make sure you are safe.<\/p>\n

Remove and rinse your dentures every time you eat. To get rid of food residue, rinse with warm water until clean. Brush your dentures at least once a day to further clean them. It will be better to brush after each use. Rinsing after each meal removes debris, but nightly brushing with denture cleaner removes other plaque buildup.<\/p>\n

Clean Your Mouth Regularly, Too<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is important to carefully monitor your oral hygiene, even after removing your dentures. Your gums are much softer and therefore more permeable than teeth.<\/p>\n

Use soft toothbrushes, gauze and sensitive toothpaste to clean your mouth. Thoroughly brush your remaining natural teeth, tongue, cheeks, and roof of your mouth. Continue cleaning by removing any denture adhesive from your gums as well.<\/p>\n

Overnight Soaking for Best Denture Fit<\/strong><\/p>\n

After cleaning your dentures, soak them overnight in water or a mild denture solution. Manufacturers and dentists recommend wetting them regularly, as most need to stay moist to hold their shape.<\/p>\n

When you wake up, be sure to thoroughly rinse your dentures. Denture solutions contain chemicals. If swallowed, these chemicals cause nausea, vomiting and pain.<\/p>\n

Take Care of Your Prostheses<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prostheses are flexible. When cleaning them, be careful not to bend or damage the plastic. Make regular visits to the dentist for ultimate comfort and fit.
